Hey guys! I am a future elementary school teacher for next fall. To save me the headache I am slowly gathering items for my classroom. I am here to share my DIY's, ways to save money and how I am putting my classroom together. For my first DIY I decided to go with a super easy, but essential for a teacher of any grade level. A teacher's name sign.

Before

AFTER

For first off, this DIY cost me less than $10 and you only need three items to make!

1.Letters

I purchased them from Hobby Lobby originally $1.99 each, but they had them 50%, so I spent 7.92 for eight letters.

2.Acrylic Paint

I already had acrylic paint in my crafting box, but the cheapest acrylic paint you can find is at Michaels the Craft Smart brand for .70 cents each. The colors I used were Craft Smart robins egg blue .70 cents and americana gloss enamels in metallic glorious gold $1.19.

3.Paint Brush

Again, I already had my own brushes from my crafting box, but the best deal I've found is the Michael's super value brush pack by artist's loft. It's only $5. It comes with 25 brushes.

That's it! All the items needed for the DIY, now let's get started on the DIY.

STEP 1

Decide the colors you want to paint your letters. I went with the Glorious gold for the MS. I painted the sides first and then the top. a lot less mess, trust me.I only needed one coat. I also used paper to let them dry on.

Step 2

I painted the Ledwig the robins egg blue. Again, don't forget to paint the sides first and then the top. With this color I did have to do two coats. (Usually happens with lighter colors.) I was also snacking on some bark thins the dark chocolate and almond ones are so good.

Step 3

Let it dry! This is important, you don't want to mess up your work. You can paint outside inside, but just be careful if you paint inside that you protect your belongings by using newspaper or an old sheet.

Step 4

Be proud of your work! I'm super excited for my first teacher DIY project. You can use these for more than a teachers classroom, but for the home or offices too. Lastly, hang up your projects, which I will post when I reveal my classroom this fall.

So, overall an easy and inexpensive project. I only spend $7.92 on the project. I love that if I ever change my classroom of change my name it is pretty simple to update. I can change the color by repainting the letters. I am considering get the letters classroom to, but maybe a smaller size. I will keep y'all updated. Let me know if you try this DIY or if you have any questions.
